On 17-18 November, the Food Market and Retail Forum 2025 took place in Warsaw – one of the most important industry events in the retail and FMCG sector. In this year’s edition, we were present both as an exhibitor and as an active participant in the discussion about the deposit-return system in Poland. During the event, we presented our latest Recomat SMART RVM 2.0, and CEO Dariusz Staszewski took part in the panel ‘Packaging Roundtable I. The deposit-return system in Poland – CHECKING IN’.
CEO Dariusz Staszewski’s speech
In the discussion concerning the implementation of the deposit-return system in Poland, Dariusz Staszewski emphasised the scale and importance of the project:
This is the first such large-scale system being introduced in Poland. We wouldn’t want it to be created bypassing Polish manufacturers. And when it comes to reverse vending machines, Polish devices are on par with Western ones, and we even have more interesting solutions.
He also pointed out the responsibility expected by retail chains and system operators:
We are not a startup. You have to buy from Polish manufacturers, because together with the device we provide a full warranty, service and durability of the solution.
Responsible choice of technology
The conversation also touched on market education. We emphasised that choosing equipment that does not meet the standards may result in the inability to connect it to the system. This is a real risk when purchasing cheap devices from Asia, which often do not pass full technical verification. In the panel, this issue was further elaborated by representatives of the Deposit-Return System Operator Reselekt SA, who indicated that compliance with RVM requirements is key to the safety and stability of the entire system.
Launch and testing of the Recomat SMART RVM 2.0 reverse vending machine
At our booth, we presented our latest model, the Recomat SMART RVM 2.0. Participants could test its operation, including the speed of packaging verification, intuitive operation, and new features supporting the deposit-return system. The device attracted considerable interest from retail chains, local governments, and representatives of the waste industry.
